Movie Watch: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

In recent years it would be announced the "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" would be adapted into a film in America. To save from typing The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo through the entire blog i will be referring to it as "Book 1." Book 1 is an adaption of the Swedish crime novel "Men Who Hate Women" and is also Book 1 in a trilogy of books, the other 2 being, The Girl Who Played With Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest.

In Sweden the books have actually already been made into films under the same titles as the books and are believed to be the most viewed films in Sweden. It should be also noted that the books themselves received critical reception and even won Sweden's "Glass Key Award."

It hadn't gained much attention here in the US until legendary director David Fincher (Fight Club, Seven, Zodiac, Etc.) was pinned onto the project as director. So far very little is known about the plot and the cast, the most recent news is that Daniel Craig has signed on to play the lead role of Mikael Blomkvist. There have been several rumors floating around of who will play the next lead role of Lisbeth Salander.

Plot

Forty years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared from a family gathering on the island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger clan. Her body was never found, yet her uncle is convinced it was murder and that the killer is a member of his own tightly knit but dysfunctional family. He employs disgraced financial journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the tattooed, ruthless computer hacker Lisbeth Salander to investigate. When the pair link Harriet's disappearance to a number of grotesque murders from almost forty years ago, they begin to unravel a dark and appalling family history. But the Vanger's are a secretive clan, and Blomkvist and Salander are about to find out just how far they are prepared to go to protect themselves.

The Four Film Hasbro Deal!

I am quite mad and if you read my previous blog, YOU KNOW WHY! My previous blog stated the Rihanna would be appearing alongside Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgard in the up and coming "Battleship" film based on the Hasbro board game.

I then went into a rant about how much this movie will suck and now i'm here to finish my thoughts on it. So, the aforementioned film is about a 500 foot long battleship called the "Destroyer" (get it?) Its part of the navy and while out at sea it comes in contact with a fleet of aliens that they must battle for control over earths seas.

It seems like a fairly dumb plot and so far the other two films from the four film contract deal with Paramount may not have flopped, but they have been terrible (G.I. Joes and Transformers.) So far i don't think this movie will be any help in breaking the chain of awfulness but there is still hope. The fourth film, is Monopoly, and i think it will break that chain.

Why?! Because of the directors. First, we had Transformers which was made by Michael Bay, the guy that made Bad Boys and all sorts of other retarded crap. Second, we had G.I. Joes which was directed by Stephen Sommers, who is actually a great improvement since Michael Bay with 3 notable films, The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, and Van Helsing. Next, we have Battleship, directed by Peter Berg who is once again, a great improvement since the last directors. Peter Berg has made Hancock, Friday Night Lights, and The Rundown, notably. However, i still don't feel its good enough. So, step into the world of Monopoly which is being directed by... get ready! RIDLEY SCOTT!!!! Those not familiar with the name will know him better by his work. Which includes but is not limited to ALIEN, BLADE RUNNER, GLADIATOR, HANNIBAL, BLACK HAWK DOWN, and just a whole boat load of genius.

A lot of people are actually mad about this but i cant see why. This guy is unstoppable, hes even been knighted so you can go ahead and start calling him Sir Ridley Scott. So, i'm not sure what will happen but i'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will successfully break the aforementioned chain.

Acting premiers coinciding. How will they fare with my opinions? (Part 2)

On July 27th, Variety magazine reported that the singer/songwriter Rhianna will be making her acting debut in the adaption of the board game "Battleship." So far she is part of the official cast of currently 3 person cast. Joining actors Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgard.

Before deciding if it was a good idea to start an acting career in a movie based on a fu**ing board game, i would like to state a few things.

First, this adaption of the Milton-Bradley board game will, in fact, NOT be about a few ships shooting at random areas on a map until they hit something. Instead, it will be about the "Destroyer" a 500 foot long naval battleship which encounter a FLEET OF ALIENS. I would continue but first i must warn you of the graphic nature of retardedness you are about to encounter. Now, the naval warship must engage in battle with the alien fleet and must battle over earths seas.

I would go into much more detail about the movie but that is not this blogs goal. In my next blog, i will review and give my thoughts on the movie Battleship

My Decision

Hell no, Rhianna isn't even the bad person here. No one gets the big picture though. This is only one of four movies in a contract with Milton-Bradley, the other three being Transformers, G.I. Joes, and the up-and-coming MONOPOLY MOVIE. Rhianna just shouldn't start off her major motion picture acting job with BATTLE-FU**ING-SHIP. Those other two that HAVE been released haven't been praised that much though.

Acting premiers coinciding. How will they fare with my opinions?

Recently, the sensation pop-star Justin Bieber has announced his turn to acting. His acting career will not begin in a major motion picture like most people would expect, but instead in the season premiere of season 11 of CSI.

The season will start with the investigative team coming in contact with a troubled teen, Jason McCann (Justin Bieber) whom, according to Wikipedia, "is faced with a terrible decision regarding his only brother -- a decision that leads him into an explosive confrontation with the investigators. "

According to the Wikipedia page, "Jason McCann" will be a reoccurring cast member in season 11. So, if there are any fans of Justin Bieber, don't miss the season premiere of CSI on September 23, 2010.

My opinion:

If you're someone who physically knows me, you must also know that i have a deep seeded hatred for Justin Bieber but i must put aside my hatred to express my thoughts on this decision. I think, in the long run, it all depends. Its hard to think of a 16 year old, guitar playing, skateboarding, Canadian as a "bad boy." But, if the director of this specific episode does a good job he may have a chance at doing better than expectations.
